In addition to working on residential homes with our partner families, we are currently building a new home for our affiliate. Located at 230 Ellicott Street, the Habitat Center will soon become the home to both our affiliate main office and the ReStore. In September 2010, Chuck Brumsted donated the property to us. To many people, the building is remembered as Cristina’s Italian Bistro which was partially destroyed by a fire in 2008. Currently, we’ve obtained a building permit and the renovation project has begun.

Habitat for Humanity of Genesee County is currently looking for a new homeowner. On Tuesday, November 8th we will be holding a free application & information session at Batavia High School. Families looking for decent and affordable housing are strongly encouraged to attend and learn about a great opportunity through Habitat for Humanity. Please review the Become a Habitat Homeowner for details regarding home ownership.

We’re looking for individuals willing to take a leadership role in our current and future construction projects. If you have any trade skills or experience in construction please consider donating your time to help families in need. Perfect opportunity for retired construction workers looking to give back to their community. All inquiries welcome!

National Women Build Week April 30 – May 8

  In the days leading up to Mother’s Day construction crews of female volunteers will raise their hammers at Habitat for Humanity construction sites across the country in recognition of National Women Build Week, April 30 through May 8. Lowe’s and Habitat for Humanity of Genesee County, NY Inc. are looking for local women to volunteer for a day at one of our Batavia Habitat construction sites during this nine-day event. Construction or home improvement experience is not necessary.

 The event will take place at 11 Raymond Ave. in the city of Batavia

 Saturday, May 7^th from 8 am to 2 pm.
